The SBUMS Pediatric Infections Research Center (PIRC) was established in 2003 at Mofid Pediatric hospital as part of the National Research Centers group. In accordance with national research policies, the main goals of the center consist of upgrading the quality of applied research, publishing papers relevant to current issues, developing motivation for research among students and the academic staff, and keeping abreast of the latest advances in the field of pediatric infectious diseases

The specialized and international journal of this center under the title "Archives of Pediatric Infectious Diseases" is indexed in ISI and Scopus with the efforts of the editorial board members and colleagues of the center

:Largely, the research projects in our center are carried out in four different fields

 Vaccines, (efficacy, field effectiveness and safety)

Antibiotics, (usage, misuse, abuse and antibiotic resistance)

 Respiratory tract infections

 Molecular studies in virology, bacteriology and fungal infections
